CLUB HISTORY

Cheshunt Corinthians re-joined the Waltham football league in season 2007/08 after a four year absence where we played under the club name of Rangers Reserves and then Hinton Rangers in our last season. Our side then disbanded due to a number of our squad playing Saturday football and who found it hard committing to both Saturday and Sunday sides. However we have now all got back together and along with a few new additions have put together a reasonable squad. In our first season last year we established ourselves well finishing 5th in division 2 and narrowly losing 2-1 in the Herts intermediate county cup semi-final to eventual winners Dun Cow. Now under the guidance of managers Lee Gildersleve, Matt Wagstaff and club captain Adrian Robinson we hope to push on more this season and gain promotion to Division 1, all however depends on a squad of players that cant say No to a pint and are usually to hung over to perform to the standard they can. The lads are loving being back in the league and are looking forward to another good competitive season in 08/09

CLUB HISTORY

Cheshunt Sunday FC entered Division 4 of the Mercury Waltham (Sunday) League at the beginning of the 2000/2001 season under the management of Alfie Norman. The team was made up of players from the under 18’s team and players who had been pre-season training with Cheshunt FC Reserves but did not make the squad. The first season was a bit of a struggle due to lack of players (At one point a 14 year old was playing upfront!!!) from injuries, suspensions & struggling to field 11 players each week but CSFC struggled through and finished 5th, 9pts off promotion. The 2001/2002 season was much the same finishing 5th again but further off getting promotion. In the 1st 2 seasons lack of discipline was a major downfall for CSFC. The league officials highlighted this and CSFC were told major improvement was needed. Towards the end of the 2001/2002 season, Alfie Norman decided to step down and handed over the management to two of his players, Danny Howell (the current manager) and Richard Webb.
The 2002/2003 season saw a vast improvement for CSFC clinching promotion to Division 3 and reaching the final of the Hertfordshire County Cup. CSFC fielded an under strength side due to injuries and lost 6-1 in the final.
The 2003/2004 season again brought promotion to CSFC and the 1st of only 2 trophies to date the Division 3 title. This was a closely fought division with 3 points separating the top 4 places and top spot came down to the last game of the season where Wormley Rovers had to win and win big to clinch the title. They won the match but not by enough goals and CSFC won the league on goal difference. Unfortunately CSFC did not do so well in cup competitions in the 2003/2004 season, they were out of all 3 of them by the 3rd round. The end of the 2003/2004 season saw CSFC lose 7 players to retirement or other teams this was to prove costly the next season…
2004/2005 season was the worst CSFC have participated in and one they would rather forget. With 7 main players defecting to other teams or retiring during the summer break the season did not go to plan. Players were brought in but were not up to standard, which meant there were not many victories that season. Morale was low and so was the points tally. CSFC finished 10th on 15 points (3 points of bottom) and were lucky to escape relegation as only 1 team was relegated that season. The cup competitions did not bring much success either, CSFC were out by the 2nd round in all 3 competitions. This season also saw Danny Howell become full time manager as he was forced to stop playing due to injury.
In the summer break between the 2004/2005 & 2005/2006 season CSFC brought in some new faces and brought back some old ones that had left at the end of the 2003/2004 season and it was back to successful ways. CSFC dropped 10 points losing only 2 league games all season on there way to winning the division 2 titles by 5 clear points. The only downfall of this season was the retirement of another player (Richard Webb) due to an injury and again CFSC did not fair as well in the cup competitions but they did move one step closer to where they want to be… the Premier Division.
